The new gym finally arrives! There's still a partial SWO in effect at 555 Fifth, but we expect that's just a minor technicality. After all, there are bodies to be exercised!!
Have been wondering about the origins of this building since a "Forgotten NY" inspired Google Maps tour which included a "walk" along 15th Street. The grand arched openings on that street's side and the general stateliness of the building seems to indicate a once important business resided there. Any info available would be appreciated by this Florida-bound tourist. Thanks. Brian Formoe
Yes Brian, I've been wondering too. I've seen some old pictures from 1940 or so, but don't know anything about the building's original purpose. It does look quite grand. I'll do a little digging around & report back. If anyone else knows more about the place please jump in.

The gym is going to be upstairs, the entrance is on 15th st. Not sure about the bottom floor- I don't think it's rented yet
