This time, though, I was more surprised to notice there was housing this far down 57th - clusters of sturdy brick three storey housing on the northern side of the block, that looked like they'd once been a complete row. Even with big facilties nearby - Lutheran Hospital & the Army Terminal - it would feel remote, surely, living down here by the water, with sky & sea breezes to spare. Even the grim conduit of Third could be forgotten for a while.
