A couple of years ago,
Ephemeral New York posted a piece about the Milton Apartments, at 489 and 491 Sixth Avenue. The brick buildings were built in 1890, and according to a commenter, were designed as model apartments for workers at a factory near the Gowanus canal at 11th Street. These days apartments in 491 are on the market as condos, priced between $950,000 to $1,350,000. 489 looks like a work in progress.
